A huge birds nest was removed from a bbq grill and placed in a nearby tree, how long will the eggs live?
Tonya W asked:
My husband and a family member were going to grill out and found a huge birds nest in the grill. Being insensitive men, they took the nest out, cleaned it and grilled anyway. I felt bad and put the nest in a very nearby tree thinking the mother would come back. Well, days of rain and no sign of momma. i’m afraid maybe it’s been just too cold for too long for them to have possibly survived. I have taken the eggs out of the nest and placed them in the house on a heating pad and covered with a light t shirt but i don’t know??? what do you think? do you think they will survive now? i can get bait worms and smash them if they hatch but it’s the hatching…i don’t think they will. the eggs appear a little strange like darker in spots like a stain from the inside showing through to the outside of the shell. Thoughts or advice?
